Dance Yoga
Dance yoga is an expression of beauty and meditation through fluid movement, a non-verbal language that focuses on the connection between the mind and the body to promote well being and healing. It's a yoking of mind and spirit in harmony accompanied with different flavors of music and percussion.

Dance yoga was developed from the idea that, contrary to common belief, asana is not static. Yoga is not about getting into a pose and staying there, but above all it is about the space between the poses, about the journey, not the end points. There is no end to an asana.  Fluidity, using the breath in the body in the moment, through movement is what we intend to explore.

Dance yoga is about finding movement in stillness, and stillness in movement, and the union in perfection. It is a celebration of our bodies, a means of artistic expression, but also a venue for bringing to surface stored negative emotions in the body and releasing them through movement.

Our classes are suitable even for people with no dancing or yoga experience. We will focus on improving body awareness, isolation, articulation and grace. Developing over time a simple, graceful, and mindful body language.

All classes start with a dance warmup and then flow into the yoga poses used in the dance, focusing on proper alignment. Finally, we bridge the yoga poses together with the dance moves, making our practice one fluid, graceful motion. We will work individually, with partners and with props. And most importantly, we will have lots of fun!
